David was born in a small Missouri Ozark’s town, moving to the Kansas City area as a child. After graduating from Lee’s Summit High School, David went on to pursue his Bachelor of Science with a major in Environmental Health at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL). While at college, he met his future wife Wanda, who had grown up on a farm near Lincoln, Nebraska. Upon graduation, Wanda and David married and are now celebrating 42 years together. They are blessed with two children, Melissa and Michael, as well as two wonderful granddaughters, Kayla and Leah. David and Wanda chose to settle in Platte County due to the quality of life Platte County offers with its gorgeous natural parks, the quality of schools, and the wonderful community. They have lived in Platte County for over 35 years.

After graduation from UNL, David began his career in public service with the City of Kansas City, Missouri. He also continued his education and earned a Master of Public Administration at UMKC.

David retired a few years ago as Director of Neighborhood and Community Services where he managed a department with a budget of $25 million, 240 employees, and responsibility for a wide variety of service programs. David was also the Executive Director of the Land Bank of Kansas City, Missouri, a program David lead and pushed for by working with City and State representatives. The Land Bank facilitates the return of abandoned, tax-foreclosed properties to the tax rolls thus improving the property values within the communities.

In every role he has served in throughout his career, David has worked to improve the quality of life for Kansas City residents in an efficient and professional manner. David’s education and experience, as well as his commitment and devotion to his Platte County community, provide him with the tools and resources needed to serve as a Trustee on the Platte County Health Department Board of Trustees.
